About Good Samaritan Hospital

Good Samaritan Hospital has been rooted in the San Jose community since the early 1960's, where members of Episcopalian and Methodist churches, as well as other members of the community, banded together to raise funds for a hospital.  That hospital would be dedicated to the health of a person's body, mind and spirit, and would be tailored to meet the needs of a growing population.

Since then, we've grown substantially, both in size and in skill.  Good Samaritan Hospital now has many internationally trained physicians with a wide range of specialties.  From our accredited Chest Pain Center, which is part of the first and only network of accredited Chest Pain Centers in Santa Clara County, to our regionally recognized outstanding care of women with high risk pregnancies.  Our hospital has also been voted into the Bay Area Parent Magazine's "Hall of Fame" for "Best Places to Have a Baby."  These are just a few of the things that make Good Samaritan one of the top hospitals in Santa Clara County.

As we move into the future, our mission remains the same: To continue to be a part of the San Jose community while providing compassionate, high-quality care to those who need it.  We will continue to invest in emerging technologies and building renovations so that our facilities and equipment can provide the best experience for our patients, and we will also continue to focus on our patients' experience, so that those visiting us can have the best experience possible.  For more information about Good Samaritan Hospital, please give us a call today at (888) 724-2362.

"Good Sam was Definitely the Best hospital I've Been to..."

  • On a random Wednesday evening, a couple months back, my stomach burst into agonizing pain. I'm doubled over on the ground trying to relieve the stabbing sensation, while my mother calls my primary physician to see if she should call an ambulance. I've had similar instances with this exact pain for years. Since I was about 10 I think. And a few days earlier I had gone to the doctor to see if they could figure out what it was that's been told numerous amounts of things from from having acid indigestion to IBS. I never really believed these doctors because every time they would prescribe me something, the meds never worked. So in this case, my doctor told my mother that I didn't need to call for an ambulance but that I should go to urgent care anyways.

After getting there I didn't have to wait long. we were escorted to the back, by very friendly nurses, and they gave me tons of meds to subdue the pain. I seriously thought I was floating on a cloud after that. The nurses ran a couple of test and came back to tell me, that what was causing the pain was gallstones. And that they were moving around in my intestines  towards my liver and that was why I had feeling I had. This in turn caused me to stay in the hospital for about week, so I could have surgery.

The whole time I was there, the nurses were very accommodating and friendly. even after I had woken up after one of my surgeries screaming, because I had no clue where I was. Good Sam was definitely the best hospital I've been to thus far.

  • I was in the ER last night for a kidney stone. I was in a really foul mood when I arrived. Y'all's staff was super professional and super nice. I felt extremely well taken care of. Thanks to everyone there.

  • Tonight we had the misfortune of visiting the ER due to one of my kids experiencing an injury.

The wait to check in was only a few minutes. We were triaged pretty quickly with a short wait in between, while we were waiting to be seen. We were then moved to another waiting room that was a lot nicer. There were coloring books and crayons. My daughter went right to work, keeping calm, while I panicked on the inside. Everyone we came in contact was really nice. The person who registered us was extra cognitive about security issue and gave us privacy while I gave her our personal information.

The best part of the visit was ER Dr. Josh. He came into the room and worked with my daughter on her level. His approach kept her involved with the exam to help her cooperate. Experiencing his upbeat attitude made me feel comforted. His communication style kept me informed and ultimately put my mind at ease. The post care instructions were also very good.

Thankfully the ultimate purpose of this visit was just peace of mind to make sure that something wasn't seriously wrong with my daughter. I couldn't have asked for a smoother experience. Now to get my daughter to stop being such a stunt monkey. :)
